About the role

Clicks Group, the health and beauty retailer behind the familiar "feel good, pay less" brand, is inviting applications for its Youth Employment Programme, a structured learnership offering unemployed young South Africans an entry point into the retail industry with no prior experience required. The programme combines classroom based learning with genuine practical, on the job training inside an active Clicks retail store.

Clicks operates one of the largest health, beauty, and pharmacy retail networks in South Africa, and this learnership gives participants direct exposure to that retail environment rather than a generic customer service course disconnected from a real workplace. Successful completion leads to an NQF Level 2 Checkout Operator Occupational Qualification, a properly accredited outcome rather than an informal internal certificate, which strengthens a participant's CV well beyond just Clicks itself.

During the programme, learners take part in structured classroom sessions covering retail theory and customer service principles, then apply that learning directly on the shop floor through practical, in store training. Day to day tasks include assisting customers at the checkout and across the sales floor, learning core retail operations such as merchandising and stock handling, and following the company's health, safety, and general workplace standards throughout.

To qualify, applicants must be South African citizens between 18 and 29 years old, with Grade 12 (Matric) as the stated entry requirement. Beyond the paperwork, Clicks is generally looking for candidates who communicate clearly, are willing to learn, and can work comfortably as part of a team in a fast paced, customer facing retail environment. Applicants must not currently be registered on another learnership or skills programme, since the point of the intake is to give a genuine first opportunity to those who haven't already had one.

This programme is well suited to matriculants who want a paid, structured way into the retail sector, particularly anyone who enjoys working directly with people and wants to build confidence in a customer facing role before deciding on a longer term career direction. Because the qualification gained is a recognised occupational certificate rather than a Clicks specific credential, it also carries genuine value if a participant later chooses to move into retail roles at other companies.

Clicks runs Youth Employment Programme intakes across multiple provinces at different points in the year, including locations such as Gauteng, the Western Cape, KwaZulu Natal, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga, so specific available locations shift regularly depending on current store needs. Applicants should visit the official Clicks Group careers portal, search for the current Youth Employment Programme or Learnership Programme listing, and select the specific location and listing reference relevant to their area before applying.

As with all entry level opportunities of this kind, applicants should apply only through Clicks Group's own official careers platform, never through unofficial third party sites, WhatsApp groups, or anyone requesting payment as part of the application, interview, or placement process.
